About

Cello has been the constant.

Hailey Yoo

Everything else — sound design, teaching, the occasional strange side project — grew out of trying to understand what the instrument was actually doing.

Hyelin (Hailey) Yoo is a cellist trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she earned a Master of Music and a Professional Studies Diploma under Jennifer Culp. Her path has also included two years of doctoral study at the University of North Texas, several seasons performing with regional orchestras across North Texas, and — before that — a decade of competition prizes and orchestral work in Seoul. Her performing life reaches beyond the concert hall too, from pop collaborations to live event and session work. She's now based back in the Bay Area, performing and teaching, with a growing interest in sound and audio technology.
